A-36 – A36 Carbon Steel is one of the most widely used grades of steel plate. It is used in practically every industry and its applications are too numerous to mention.

1020 – 1020 Carbon Steel is one of the very commonly used plain carbon steels. It has a nominal carbon content of 0.20% with approximately 0.50% manganese. It is a good combination of strength and ductility and may be hardened or carburized.

FM15 – FM15 Carbon Steel material is a low carbon, high manganese with high sulfur for maximum machineability.

FM45 – FM45 Carbon Steel is a high carbon version of Freemax 15 for Heat Treating applications.

1045 – 1045 Carbon Steel is a medium carbon steel is used when greater strength and hardness is desired than in the “as rolled” condition. Extreme size accuracy, straightness and concentrically combine to minimize wear in high speed applications. Turned, ground and polished bars can be machined unsymmetrically with minimum distortion. Used in gears, shafts, axles, bolts, studs, and machine parts.

1018 – 1018 Carbon Steel is among the most commonly available grades available in the world. It is widely available in cold finished rounds, squares, flat bar and hexagons. Despite its unimpressive mechanical properties, the alloy is easily formed, machined, welded and fabricated. Due to Steel grade 1018’s higher Magnesium content, it can be hardened to Rc 42 in thin sections.

1060 – 1060 Carbon Steel is a high-carbon steel of low hardenability; it may be used in the as-rolled, annealed, normalized or liquid-quenched-and-tempered condition, depending on the desired properties. It is normally hardened by austenitizing and quenching in oil; however, it may be quenched in water if precautions are taken to prevent cracking. Its many uses include springs, hand tools, heavy machinery parts, shafts and agricultural machinery.

11L17 – 11L17 Carbon Steel has a lead addition improves the machinability of 11L17 versus 1117. Manganese content leads to increased hardenability. Used where case hardenability and good machinability are needed, such as in medium duty shafts, studs, pins, and universal joints.

12L14 – 12L14 Carbon Steel is considered to be one of the fastest machining bar products produced today. 12L14 is rated at 190% of 1112. Its machinability is a direct result of a fine dispersion of lead particles throughout the alloy.

Steel 1 Company LLC also offers in addition to our metal alloy distribution 1 -2 day distribution services the following 1 -2 day secondary opperations on all of our metal alloys:

High Speed CNC machining, EDM, Wire EDM, Metal Fabrication, Flame – Laser – Plasma Cutting, Blanchard Grinding, Centerless Grinding, Mattison Grinding and Saw Cutting.
